(firmenpresse) - SAN JOSE, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 07/25/11 -- Carly Fiorina, the former Hewlett-Packard (HP) CEO and 2010 U.S. Senate candidate for California, has joined the Advisory Board of the Foundation for Health Coverage Education (FHCE) (), a San Jose, California-based non-profit organization with a mission to assist Americans with identifying their public and private health coverage options through simplified eligibility information.

Once named by Fortune as "The Most Powerful Woman in Business," Fiorina led the reinvention of HP, the company which many associate with the birth of Silicon Valley, by successfully steering it through the dot-com bust. Under her leadership, HP's revenues doubled from $44 billion to $88 billion with improved profitability in every product category. She also led the merger of HP with Compaq Computers, now acknowledged to be the most successful merger in high-tech history.

Today, Ms. Fiorina is one of the most recognized businesswomen in the world and an opinion leader who serves on the Board of Trustees at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and who has previously served on the Board of Business Executives for National Security.

As FHCE moves forward with an oncology-focused Coverage for All Campaign later this year, Ms. Fiorina's understanding of technology, as well as her knowledge and experience as a cancer survivor, will contribute greatly to FHCE's outreach efforts.

"As a cancer survivor, I will never take my health or my access to good health care for granted," said Carly Fiorina. "All Americans deserve that same peace of mind. Through the effective, common-sense efforts of FHCE, so many people can easily determine their eligibility and access to health care. I am proud of my association with FHCE and hope to highlight the service they provide through the power of technology and bringing information to one source."

"We feel so privileged to have Carly on board at this revolutionary time in health care," said Phil Lebherz, Founder and Executive Director of FHCE. "Her wisdom and experience is much needed as our organization strives to define how technology can provide critical answers to an antiquated health care delivery system."

The Foundation for Health Coverage Education (FHCE) is a non-profit 501(c)3 public charity organization based in San Jose, California and founded in response to the increasing number of uninsured individuals who are eligible for health coverage, but not enrolled. For more information, log on to or call FHCE's U.S. Uninsured Help Line at 1-800-234-1317.
