MRA Offers New Guide to Starting a Retail Business

(firmenpresse) - LANSING, MI -- (Marketwire) -- 07/25/11 -- Michigan Retailers Association (MRA) has produced a new publication to help would-be retailers start their own business.

Entrepreneur's Guide to Starting a Retail Business is a free, 22-page booklet that spells out the basic steps involved in opening a retail business.

"There's strong agreement throughout our state that we need to reignite Michigan's entrepreneurial spirit and touch off an explosion of startup businesses that will ultimately create hundreds of thousands of good jobs," said MRA President and CEO James P. Hallan.

"We want to do our part to help make this happen in the retail industry."

The guide pulls together information from a number of sources, including state government and the Michigan Small Business and Technology Development Centers. It's designed to help would-be retailers understand what they need to do in preparation for their first sale.

"Michigan Retailers Association has served as an expert, trusted business resource since our founding in 1940. We want to encourage more Michigan residents -- whether unemployed, underemployed or simply seeking an exciting and rewarding new challenge -- to take a good look at starting a retail enterprise," Hallan said.

Michigan Retailers Association's nearly 5,000 members own and operate more than 12,000 stores across the state. MRA is the nation's largest state trade association of general merchandise retailers.
