Shotcrete and the new Porsche development centre
P for Porsche or Putzmeister P 715

(PresseBox) - The sports car manufacturer Porsche has invested approximately 150 million euro in its research and development centre in Weissach, Baden-Württemberg, Germany with a view to realising its long-term site planning strategy with a series of major construction projects. 3 buildings were completed in 2014, including a new wind tunnel.
However, various requirements had to be met before the state-of-the-art buildings in the design centre, electronics integration centre and high-tech wind tunnel could become operational. After the ground-breaking ceremony for the wind tunnel, building contractor Leonhard Weiss had to stabilise the excavation site together with its partner company because only a combination of expert knowledge and high-quality machines can lay the cornerstone for quality and success.
A small but important cog in the machine - the P 715 from Putzmeister
The company BTR-Bohrtechnik Roßwag from Vaihingen/Enz, Germany was responsible for providing the anchoring equipment used to stabilise the site and performing the spraying work with a spray manipulator manufactured by Walter Bohr- und Injektionstechnik based in Albruck, Germany. Secured to the swing arm of an excavator, the remote-controlled equipment processed the shotcrete in 40 minutes at a maximum rate of 8 m3. Key performance indicators such as pressure, output and the quantity of additive for the set accelerating admixture can be read directly from the control console on this system and are documented to assure the quality of the material. With a grain size of 8 mm, the material was poured into the Putzmeister P 715 by a truck mixer and conveyed to the spray manipulator along a delivery hose DN50 up to 80 metres long. The powerful piston pump with a delivery output of 18 m3 per hour and 68 bar delivery pressure ensured that the work was completed quickly and on schedule.
Why was the P 715 from Putzmeister selected?
It is rumoured that hydraulically driven piston pumps are bulky and immobile. The P 715 proves otherwise: it is compact, lightweight and extremely mobile, and incorporates powerful technology that has made large Putzmeister concrete pumps famous all over the world. The powerful P 715 piston pump can pump material over long distances and is therefore ideal for shotcrete applications, particularly in combination with a spray manipulator. The roadworthy T-chassis makes it easy to transport the machine and manoeuvre it on the construction site.
Porsche continues its investment strategy
About 450 m3 of shotcrete was processed for the construction projects up to the end of 2014 and the work is scheduled to continue over the next few years. During the official ceremony to inaugurate the development centre, Porsche boss Matthias Müller announced that an additional investment of approximately 95 million euro would be made to continue the expansion, starting with the construction of a drive testing facility to be completed by 2016.
The Putzmeister Group develops and produces machinery of high technological quality in the fields of concrete conveying, truck-mounted concrete pumps, stationary concrete pumps, placing booms and accessories, plant technology, conveying viscous industrial materials through pipes, concrete placement and transporting excavated material from tunnels and below ground, mortar machines, plastering machines, screed conveying, injection and specialist applications. Market segments include the construction industry, mining and tunnelling, large industrial projects, power plants and sewage treatment plants, as well as waste incineration plants, all over the world.
