Cutimed(R) Sorbact(R) Product Received Novation's Innovative Technology Designation

BSN medical received the three-year contract for its product, which received an Innovative Technology designation from Novation following a comprehensive review process.

The Cutimed Sorbact product provides a microbe binding action for wound care that is proven to effectively clean colonized and infected wounds without a chemically active agent or antibiotics. As a result, side effects such as bacterial resistance, cytotoxic (cell-killing) effects or allergies that might be linked to using common antimicrobials like silver are eliminated. The product uses hydrophobic interaction to attract, bind and inactivate pathogens, creating optimum conditions for wounds to heal naturally.
A multi-center study shows that Cutimed Sorbact can reduce signs of perifocal inflammation, and reduce or eliminate local infection. In addition, results show that it has broad compatibility with other wound management products and is easy to handle during dressing changes. During the treatment period, 93 percent of all wounds improved or healed completely among 116 patients(1).
