Quetango in the World's Tango Capital
(firmenpresse) - QUEBEC CITY, QUEBEC -- (Marketwire) -- 07/26/11 -- Quebec quartet Quetango has been invited to play in August in the most prestigious Tango festival in the world: Tango Buenos Aires, Festival y Mundial. The originality of their creations has drawn the attention of Buenos Aires' Department of Culture representatives who were present at one of their concerts last October.
Quetango is a band from the Quebec region that offers vivacious performances; tango and jazz are merging to create an atmosphere that is at times intimate, at times exciting, if not fierce! Composed of Argentinean cellist Daniel Finzi, jazz guitarist Jonathan Hains, bassist Frederic Vermette and percussionist Simon Boudreault, the quartet possesses a large repertoire made of their own compositions.
Their first album Postango was nominated in 2007 for Instrumental Album of the Year at ADISQ. In 2006, they also produced a live filmed concert for the Bravo Canada television channel, which is still being aired today. One of their concerts in 2008 was recorded by CBC2 and broadcasted several times as well. The quartet is currently working on their new album, Musica Urbana. Quetango's participation in this renowned festival is a welcomed opportunity to contribute to the dissemination of Canadian culture abroad.
