Sales surpass EUR 500 million barrier
(PresseBox) - The precision tool manufacturer MAPAL was again able to post a significant growth in turnover in the past business year. Consolidated group sales rose by over 8% from EUR 470 million in 2013 to EUR 510 million in 2014. "The EUR 500 million barrier was a target that we had set ourselves for 2014 ? and one which we have achieved," says president Dr. Dieter Kress. Parallel to the turnover, the number of employees also rose by almost 5% ? from 4,300 to 4,500 worldwide. The MAPAL Group has 3,100 employees in Germany ? a clear commitment by the precision tool manufacturer to Germany as a business site.
MAPAL expects a growing demand again in 2015, both in the automotive sector and in machine and plant engineering, as well as in markets such as the aerospace industry. The production capacities are therefore being expanded at several sites worldwide. Furthermore, significant investments are also planned within Germany for 2015 ? for example, at the MAPAL subsidiary WEISSKOPF whose capacities are to be doubled with the construction of a new building. These are in addition to the ongoing investments in new machines to keep productivity and quality at the highest level. MAPAL reinvests 8% of its turnover in research and development. "We are continuing, for example, to conduct research into new technologies such as additive production," explains Dr. Dieter Kress. With this innovative process, MAPAL became the world's first manufacturer of precision tools to bring a tool produced by means of laser sintering to series production maturity with the QTD indexable insert drill for diameters below 13 millimetres.
