Death of an Inmate at Stony Mountain Institution - Minimum Security Unit

On March 23, 2015, Dennis Barry McFadden, an inmate from the minimum security unit at Stony Mountain Institution was found unresponsive in a living unit.
Staff members immediately began performing CPR and emergency services were called. The inmate could not be resuscitated.
At the time of his death, Mr. McFadden, 64 years old, had been serving an indeterminate sentence for First Degree Murder since June 4, 1982.
As in all cases involving the death of an inmate, the police and the coroner have been notified, and Correctional Service Canada will review the circumstances of the incident.
