Mizuho Captures Top Honors on Institutional Investor's All-Japan Research Team
Domestic Firms Dominate Upper Reaches of Annual Ranking of Sell-Side Analysts
(firmenpresse) - NEW YORK, NY -- (Marketwired) -- 04/07/15 -- Mizuho Securities Group, which shared the top spot on Institutional Investor's with Nomura in 2014, has the winner's circle all to itself this time around. The firm captures 28 team positions, four more than last year, while Nomura slips to second after its total declines by one, to 23.

SMBC Nikko Securities returns in third place with 19 spots. Daiwa Securities Group rises one rung, to No. 4, after picking up four positions, bringing its total to 18.
Two firms share the fifth tier, with 11 spots each: Bank of America Merrill Lynch, whose total falls by five, slips from fourth place, while Mitsubishi UFJ Morgan Stanley Securities Co. jumps from No. 8 even though its total is unchanged from last year.
Survey results reflect the opinions of more than 1,100 financial professionals at roughly 375 buy-side institutions that collectively manage an estimated $1.2 trillion in Japanese equities.
The All-Japan Research Team Hall of Fame, which honors analysts who have amassed at least ten sector-topping appearances, welcomes two new members this year: Shinsuke Iwasa of Mizuho Securities Group, who leads the lineup in Broadcasting, and UBS's Mariko Watanabe, the No. 1 analyst in OTC & Small Companies. Their inclusion brings the Hall of Fame total membership to 13.
