(firmenpresse) - TORONTO, ONTARIO -- (Marketwired) -- 04/07/15 -- Susan Wortzman, founder of Wortzmans, is pleased to announce that Duncan Fraser has joined the firm as Vice-President and Senior Legal Counsel. Duncan is well known as one of Canada's leading e-discovery lawyers. Under his direction, the Federal Department of Justice became one of the public sector leaders in e-discovery. Duncan will join the Wortzmans e-discovery team advising its clients on all stages of the e-discovery process, information governance and privacy law.

Wortzmans, the go-to law firm in Canada for e-discovery and information governance, has been watching the developments in the traditional e-discovery market, and the related information governance and litigation readiness markets. Success for our clients requires us to have the best and most experienced legal team available. The arrival of Duncan Fraser is a key piece of our strategy. He has 19 years of litigation experience, specializing in fraud, aboriginal, environmental and injunctive matters, and he created and managed the e-discovery practice for the largest legal department in Canada.

As Director and General Counsel, eLitigation and Litigation Support Services, in the Litigation Branch of the Department of Justice, Duncan was responsible for developing and providing comprehensive e-discovery strategy and litigation technology and services to over two thousand Justice lawyers and paralegals.

Duncan created the Department's evidence management service, which delivers expedited document review to litigation teams across the country. He also provided litigation readiness advice and strategies to other government departments, in order to reduce the cost, risk, and disruption of the disclosure process in litigation. His team was responsible for many important projects, including the Department's eService initiative, disclosure project management, courtroom technology, and the development of national standards and best practices.

Duncan also played a leadership role in the Management Sector. Appointed Director, information(at)justice, in 2012, his responsibilities included the management of information services, information policy, business intelligence, and the overall strategic direction of the departmental information transformation initiative. Working with the Chief Information Officer, he had a mandate to enable the transformation of the business of the Department through new ways of working, using modern, digital tools to securely create, share, leverage and manage information.

Duncan's legal experience and expertise in the public sector fit seamlessly into the legal services that Wortzmans provides.
