Sonoma County is the Lead Agency under the CaliforniaEnvironmental Quality Act for projects of under 50 Megawatts capacitybeing developed within the county."This is the first geothermal power plant to be permitted at TheGeysers Geothermal Field in 21 years," said Sigrid Swedenborg, SonomaCounty Land Use Planner for the project. "It is an exciting projectfor Sonoma County and meets our General Plan policies to promoterenewable energy generation systems."The power will be purchased, pursuant to a previously announced powerpurchase agreement, by the Northern California Power Agency, anon-profit joint powers agency that provides electricity generatedfrom environmentally responsible sources to its member communities inNorthern and Central California.
