Noranda Income Fund Postpones Date of Annual General Meeting of Unitholders
(firmenpresse) - SALABERRY-DE-VALLEYFIELD, QUEBEC -- (Marketwired) -- 04/13/15 -- Noranda Income Fund (TSX: NIF.UN) (the "Fund") announced today that the Board of Trustees of Noranda Operating Trust (the "Board") has postponed the date for the annual general meeting of the holders of priority units and special fund units. Mr. John Swidler, one of the four independent trustees of Noranda Operating Trust, has advised the Fund of his decision not to stand for re-election at the upcoming meeting should a suitable replacement be identified. The Board has determined to retain an executive search firm to assist it in identifying and selecting an Independent Trustee candidate. The meeting has been delayed in order to provide additional time to conduct the search process and to select an acceptable replacement. The Board has not established a new meeting date at this time. The Administrator, on behalf of the Fund, will fix the record date for determining those unitholders entitled to receive notice and vote at the meeting once the new meeting date has been set. The Fund will announce the new meeting and record date in due course.
Noranda Income Fund is an income trust whose units trade on the Toronto Stock Exchange under the symbol "NIF.UN". Noranda Income Fund owns the electrolytic zinc processing facility and ancillary assets (the "Processing Facility") located in Salaberry-de-Valleyfield, Quebec. The Processing Facility is the second-largest zinc processing facility in North America and the largest zinc processing facility in eastern North America, where the majority of zinc customers are located. It produces refined zinc metal and various by-products from sourced zinc concentrates. The Processing Facility is operated and managed by Canadian Electrolytic Zinc Limited, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Glencore Canada Corporation.
