The DOE's Quadrennial Energy Review (QER), issued earlier this week, outlines a foundation for significant investment in more advanced grid resources, such as energy storage technologies.

The DOE's QER recommends that a strategy and framework be established for wider storage deployment, as well as developing fair and competitive market structures for new services and technologies. The first installment of the QER looks at how to modernize U.S. energy infrastructure to promote economic competitiveness, energy security and environmental responsibility, focusing on energy transmission, storage, and distribution.
