The Manitoba Chapter of the Canadian Public Relations Society (CPRS) is pleased to announce Jane Puchniak of Canada's Royal Winnipeg Ballet (RWB) is the recipient of the 2015 Manitoba Communicator of the Year (MCOY) award.
"The MCOY jury selected Puchniak as the awardee for her demonstration of communications leadership, her public relations skills in planning and execution, and her ability to respect cultural sensitivity and collaborate with key stakeholders," says Tamara Bodi, President of CPRS Manitoba. "Congratulations, Jane, on your achievement."
Puchniak coordinated two highly successful multi-city public relations campaigns for the RWB School's annual international audition tour, initiating fashion photography collaborations with Club Monaco and Banana Republic. She also managed a national media relations campaign launched in October 2014 for the world premiere of the RWB's Going Home Star - Truth and Reconciliation - a full-length ballet created for the company's 75th anniversary season.
"I am very proud to have been involved in such an important project, not only for the ballet community, but for Canada," says Puchniak. "I could not have achieved the media coverage without the guidance of my colleagues at the RWB, including Larah Luna, Director of Marketing and Communications; Jeff Herd, Executive Director; and Tina Keeper, Associate Producer. It was truly a team effort and I am honoured to have worked with such talented and passionate individuals."
Puchniak will be presented with the MCOY award and share campaign highlights at a special gala luncheon event on Thursday, May 7, 2015, at the Manitoba Club in Winnipeg. Luncheon tickets can be purchased online at .
CPRS Manitoba will also be recognizing other special guests with CPRS Manitoba honours, including Deborah Bowers, APR, who recently earned her accreditation; Terry Aseltine, APR, FCPRS, who will be honoured with a CPRS life member designation; and 2015 CPRS Manitoba scholarship recipient Rose Regier, a second-year Red River College Creative Communications student and CPRS Manitoba student member.
CPRS Manitoba is proud to recognize the best in the profession. This year's recipient, along with all nominees, demonstrated creativity and comprehensive communications strategies. The award event is made possible through the generosity of principal sponsor, Marketwired.
History of CPRS Manitoba Communicator of the Year Award
CPRS Manitoba established the Manitoba Communicator of the Year Award to honour Manitoba leaders in business, political, non-profit and community organizations whose efforts in the previous one or two years have resulted in greater understanding of a specific issue, successful promotion of a cause, expert management of a crisis, or public's acceptance of an organization's mandate. Every year, the MCOY winner is selected by a panel of senior public relations professionals. CPRS Manitoba thanks the 2015 jury, which consisted of Clare MacKay, Aileen White and LuAnn Lovlin for their efforts and expertise.
Previous MCOY award recipients include: Jason Syvixay of the Downtown Winnipeg BIZ (2014), Bill Peters of St-Boniface Hospital Research Centre (2013), Scott Brown of True North Sports and Entertainment (2012), Kevin Walters of Manitoba Homecoming (2011), Clare MacKay of The Forks North Portage Partnership (2010), and Heather Plett of the Canadian Foodgrains Bank (2009).
