Rip-off Rentals: Child Booster Seat Hire Can Cost Up to GBP 26.58 a DAY!
(firmenpresse) - LONDONDERRY, UNITED KINGDOM -- (Marketwired) -- 06/02/15 -- Families taking a holiday which involves car rental this summer are likely to be hit by extortionate car seat hire costs with charges of up to GBP 26.58 a day in popular European destinations, new figures have revealed.
It would seem that in addition to half term holiday prices increasing by 3.7% year on year, parents are also being stung by added extras including car seat hire. Cities with the highest individual rental prices found in Europe were Rotterdam (GBP 26.58/day), Salzburg (GBP 26.02/day) and Berlin (GBP 14.47/day). Outside of Europe, New Zealand was the most expensive destination at GBP 24.43 a day with one provider.
Prices for car seat hire in the Greek Islands came in the cheapest with booster seats found for just GBP 2.59/day in Cyprus and GBP 3.52/day in Greece.
The research, carried out by , the innovative UK and US-based children's travel solutions company, also found that the cost of car seat hire was capped at around GBP 60 per week - the equivalent to the cost of buying two car booster seats or travel booster seats. And if you are hiring a car seat it also pays to shop around with prices varying wildly between providers. In Rotterdam, for instance, one provider charged over 700% more than any other.
Grainne Kelly, founder of comments: 'Taking the family abroad during peak season can often break the bank as travel companies hike up their prices outside of term times. However it seems that hidden extras like car seat hire are driving prices up even further.
'Child car seat rental charges differ massively between popular family destinations and parents may need to consider additional charges as the unexpected add-on can be as extortionate as the car hire itself.'
