Guilty Verdicts in Terrorism Trial

(firmenpresse) - VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA -- (Marketwired) -- 06/03/15 -- In the Supreme Court of British Columbia yesterday, a jury found John Stuart Nuttall, 40, and Amanda Marie Korody, 32, guilty of conspiring to murder persons unknown, for the benefit of a terrorist group, contrary to s. 83.2 of the Criminal Code.
They were also found guilty of making or having an explosive substance for the benefit of a terrorist group, contrary to s. 83.2. Both offences carry a maximum sentence of life imprisonment.
An entrapment application is expected to be heard at a later date.
The Public Prosecution Service of Canada is responsible for prosecuting offences under federal jurisdiction in a manner that is free of any improper influence and that respects the public interest. The PPSC is also responsible for providing prosecution-related advice to law enforcement agencies across Canada.
