Randy Olsen, IT Manager at M.A. Ford, said during their search of new software, finding an ERP system that embraced current technology was critical. The yearly 1/3 code review at abas, which allows for regular evaluations and updates of technology, struck Olsen as something that guaranteed customers would be getting software that is constantly new and improved. "My take on the 1/3 code review is that no part of abas is really ever more than 3 years old, so it is able to quickly adapt its software to an ever-changing manufacturing landscape," said Olsen.
Another important aspect that led M.A. Ford to choosing abas ERP was its flexibility. Olsen described how any system could be considered flexible, but how easy it is to achieve flexibility is what really makes an impact. "Our current ERP system is 'flexible' as long as you are a developer and can muddle through a long list of things you need to do," said Olsen. "With abas, this process is quick and easy."
Olsen said abas ERP will improve on their previous software system by extending core functionality and allowing their company to build internal programs or leverage third-party packages that can connect directly into the ERP system. Olsen described abas ERP as a unified system in which every aspect of the software connects and is easily compatible with any other software packages that M.A. Ford may need.
