BC Startup Expands and Launches a New Social Platform for Sports

Shnarped, the Vancouver-based tech startup that created a popular hockey app which won a deal from all five Dragons on Dragon's Den, is expanding their social media platform to cover all sports with an increased focus on videos and photos.
The new Shnarped platform has been described as 'Instagram meets Vine for sports'. Through conversations with numerous young athletes and youth organizations, the company identified a need for an easy-to-use sport-specific platform for people to create and share their sports moments.
The most appealing features of Shnarped are the easy-to-use video editing tools, which allow users to quickly create, post, and share great videos across all their social media accounts. Slow motion, custom music, spotlighting and fun moving stickers & emojis are the primary tools developed based on feedback from sports families.
"We wanted to create something fun and really simple to use," said Shnarped Cofounder and CEO Dustin Sproat. "Shnarped is about finding inspiration, having fun, and building communities through a shared love of sports. Many of our initial ideas came from kids, and their feedback has been extremely positive and helpful."
Shnarped will be free and available by invitation only starting June 30th for iOS users. "Because of such a positive response to date, we've decided to go invite-only in order to control our growth and ensure we can deliver a great experience for our early adopters," said Sproat.
