Houzz Releases Annual Remodeling Numbers
(firmenpresse) - SAN DIEGO, CA -- (Marketwired) -- 07/08/15 -- To the surprise of many of us the numbers released by Houzz shows that Millennials (ages 25-34) have been very active in projects. Out of the 15,000 U.S. based millennial homeowners surveyed, this group is just as likely to remodel their homes as other groups surveyed like baby boomers. According to the Millennials surveyed, the reason for the remodel is to make their newly purchased home their own.
Sergei Kaminskiy who owns Kaminskiy Design and Remodeling, confirms that many of the projects in San Diego have been for millennial homeowners. Sergei says, "This group of new homeowners represent a large portion of our remodeling projects, many of these new homeowners are benefiting from the high tech sector and biotech sectors of San Diego. For many of the millennial remodels they are young and new families, and rather than move they are opting for a remodel."
What the survey demonstrates is the Millennial homeowners really value resale value, energy efficiency, healthy homes, and other factors that are similar to other generations. When it comes to renovating and decorating the Millennial group is just as active as groups like baby boomers.
continue to be the most popular interior remodeling projects among all age groups, with nearly 1/3 of homeowners tacking this room in 2014. Millennial homeowners who are just as likely to as other groups spent on average of $26,300 for their where baby boomers spent an average of $45,200.
Eighty four percent of homeowners reported that they hired professional for their projects. When it comes to financing these projects, cash remains king amongst all the age groups surveyed with 87% paying in cash.
Many of the older groups surveyed plan on staying in their homes indefinitely, with many renovating their homes for this purpose. In the 60 plus age group 60% are improving the accessibility of their homes and kitchens.
