First Marblehead Receives Congressional Joint Committee on Taxation Review Affirming the IRS's Decision
(firmenpresse) - MEDFORD, MA -- (Marketwired) -- 07/15/15 -- The First Marblehead Corporation (NYSE: FMD) today announced that the Internal Revenue Service ("IRS") has informed the Company that the Congressional Joint Committee on Taxation (the "Joint Committee") has completed its review of the IRS's decision to no longer challenge the federal tax refunds the Company previously received in the amounts of $176.6 million and $45.1 million. The Joint Committee has taken no exception to the conclusions reached by the IRS. At this time, the IRS's audit of the Company's tax returns for fiscal 2007 through fiscal 2010 is now complete.
