Travel and Leisure Company Lowers SQL Latency by 98% Using Infrastructure Level In-Memory Computing

Shane Allen, system engineer at ICE, was tasked with ensuring the needs of the company's business did not outgrow the capabilities of the company's storage infrastructure. As part of this mandate, he was tasked with ensuring that the company's SQL server databases performed at their full potential, even after being virtualized.

[The DBAs] saw IOPS that were traditionally in the 1,500 to 2,000 range go to a peak above 15,000, and there weren't any noticeable delays for data accesses. Reports that used to take hours were now completing in minutes! They could now run bigger queries and process larger batches. We were able to significantly reduce the latency on the SAN, dramatically increase the IOPS and deliver great response times."
