(firmenpresse) - WINNIPEG, MANITOBA -- (Marketwire) -- 08/02/11 -- Mr. Arni C. Thorsteinson, Chair of the Board of Trustees for the Canadian Museum for Human Rights (CMHR) and Mr. Stuart A. Murray, President and Chief Executive Officer for the CMHR, issued the following statement upon hearing news of the death of Mrs. Ruth 'Babs' Asper.

"We are saddened to hear of the sudden passing of a great Canadian and unparalleled supporter of the Canadian Museum for Human Rights, Mrs. Ruth 'Babs' Asper. Babs has been the driving force behind many of the Asper family's philanthropic activities, often working without public acclaim. For those of us who had the good fortune to know her, we understand how tirelessly she worked and recognize how much she contributed to Winnipeg, Manitoba and Canada. She is truly a human rights star.

On behalf of the CMHR's Board of Trustees, Management and employees, we would like to offer our deepest condolences to the family and friends of Babs Asper. Our thoughts are with you all in this difficult time."
