TicketNetwork(R) Releases 2015 NFL Ticket Sales Report

There is a saying in sports that winning takes care of everything, but what is the effect of winning on ticket prices? According to TicketNetwork data, winning certainly appears to affect ticket prices, as (Broncos $350, Patriots $318, Seahawks $314 and Packers $310).
Of the 12 teams that won 10 or more games last season (Patriots, Steelers, Bengals, Ravens, Colts, Broncos, Cowboys, Eagles, Packers, Lions, Seahawks and Cardinals), only the Lions and Cardinals aren't in the top half of the most expensive NFL tickets.
While the Broncos have the highest average ticket price, when you subtract their games against the Packers ($494 average, $252 get-in) and Patriots ($440 average, $204 get-in), their average ticket is just $189, a price that would place them the 11th most expensive average ticket price.
The chart below looks at the correlation between last year's winning percentage and the effect on the average ticket price for both conferences. The Patriots, Broncos, Packers and Seahawks all have among the highest average ticket price and they all won at least 12 games. Conversely, of the five lowest average ticket prices, only the Bills had a winning percentage above .500.
- High hopes for the Dolphins, as well as visits from two of the league's most high-profile teams, is pushing the Dolphins to the highest increase in average ticket price, up 33% compared to last year. That is due in part to the Dolphins hosting the Dallas Cowboys and the New York Giants. The Dolphins game against the Cowboys on November 22 is the most expensive ticket at Sun Life Stadium this season, with an average ticket price of $228 and a $140 "get-in" price, while the game against the Giants on December 14 has an average price of $210 and a get-in price of $131. The defending Super Bowl champion and AFC East opponent New England Patriots (who the Dolphins play twice each year) is the third most in-demand NFL game in Miami, with an average ticket price of $208, $103 get-in price.
- Ticket prices for the San Francisco 49ers have decreased 28% compared to last year, when they were coming off a close 23 - 17 loss in Seattle in the NFC Championship Game. Following a difficult 8-8 season, the 49ers parted ways with head coach John Harbaugh, as well as star running back Frank Gore during the off-season. Additionally, 2014 saw the inauguration of Levi's Stadium, which increased ticket prices prior to the start of the season.

Of the eight away games on the Cowboy's schedule, five of those games are the most expensive home game of that team (Saints $289, Giants $231, Dolphins $228, Buccaneers $160, Bills $137).
Despite the overall relationship between winning and ticket prices, the Dallas Cowboys won 12 games last year but are the ninth most-expensive ticket. However the total capacity of AT&T Stadium, approximately 20,000 more seats than the next-closest stadium (FedEx Field), pushes down the average ticket price, if not the demand.
- Peyton Manning's visit to Indianapolis on November 8 is boosting the average price of Colts tickets, as the game has an average ticket price of $240 with a $104 get-in price. Manning, who spent 13 years with the Colts and won Super Bowl XLI with the team, is 1-2 against his former team, including a playoff loss during the 2015 playoffs. The New England Patriots also pay a visit to Indianapolis this season after handily beating the Colts in the infamous "deflategate" playoff game. Luck v. Brady, part five, is currently averaging $228, with a get-in price of $80.
- The Broncos have two high-profile opponents at home this season: the Packers and league MVP Aaron Rodgers as well as the defending Super Bowl champion (and Peyton Manning nemesis) Patriots, driving Denver's ticket prices up. The games against the Packers and Patriots are two significant reasons why the Broncos boast the highest average ticket price in the NFL. Denver's game against the Packers is averaging $494 with a $252 get-in price. Tickets for the game against the Patriots are averaging $440 with a get-in price of $204. Removing those two games brings down the average Bronco ticket to $189.
