New Head of Automotive Aftermarket Segment: Rolf Sudmann Succeeds Helmut Engel

Engel is retiring - after more than 44 years at the company / Sudmann has decades of experience in the automotive aftermarket

(PresseBox) - Leadership change in the ContiTech Power Transmission Group: Rolf Sudmann is to take charge of the Automotive Aftermarket segment with effect from September 1, 2015. He will be succeeding Helmut Engel who is retiring after more than 44 years at Continental. Sudmann has 25 years? experience in the automotive aftermarket. He was also Engel?s preferred candidate to take ove as the new Head of Segment. ?For me it was important for my successor to know the industry and to have a sound network. With his decades of experience, Rolf Sudmann fully meets this criterion,? says Engel. Sudmann intends to continue focusing on staying close to customers: ?My motto is ?People make markets? ? that?s why it?s also beneficial that I?ve managed many customers in the past 25 years. Even if the products were different, the mission was always the same.?
End of a ContiTech era
Engel even did his apprenticeship at Continental. When ContiTech became an independent company in the early 1990s, Engel developed the Automotive Aftermarket product market segment ? with conspicuous success. The segment recorded double-digit growth for years. Together with his team, Engel succeeded in establishing a position among the top 3 players worldwide. ContiTech has a complete product range of V-belts, multi-V belts and timing belts in OE quality for passenger cars, trucks and buses, plus kits and other power transmission components. The offering is rounded off by an extensive selection of service-related items.
