MEDIA ALERT: Teledentistry Comes to Los Angeles; Virtual Dental Home Demonstration Project to Take Place at Kingsley Manor Retirement Community on September 14
(firmenpresse) - GLENDALE, CA -- (Marketwired) -- 09/09/15 -- In a first for senior housing in California, residents of Kingsley Manor retirement community who face financial or other barriers to traditional care will receive routine diagnostic and preventive dental services at Kingsley Manor Care Center right where they live. The initiative will expand to underserved residents at other senior housing communities and senior centers in Southern California in the months ahead.
The project is funded by a grant from the California Wellness Foundation and introduces the Virtual Dental Home system of care, a new model for delivering dental care developed at University of the Pacific's Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry in San Francisco. Partnering in the project are Front Porch Center for Innovation and Wellbeing, a nonprofit organization that strives to harness technology solutions that support and enhance wellbeing in older adults, and the Los Angeles-based QueensCare Health Centers, a federally qualified provider of health services to underserved patients.
The demonstration will show how teledentistry technology can connect patients in retirement communities, affordable housing communities and senior center settings with dentists in dental offices through licensed allied dental professionals who deliver onsite patient dental care.
