Company Also Introduces GoBoard.com, Online Tutoring Collaboration Tool

(firmenpresse) - GAINESVILLE, FL -- (Marketwired) -- 09/15/15 -- Tutor Matching Service (TMS), today announced new partnerships with 10 universities, including the University of Florida, Indiana University-Bloomington, and St. Francis College, bringing the total number of university partners nationwide to more than 50.

"As the 2015-16 school year begins, we are delighted to welcome these new partners," said Ethan Fieldman, co-founder and director of TMS. "Partnering with top schools like these around the country validates our strategy of working hand-in-hand with institutional partners to support successful student learning outcomes."

"We are pleased to partner with TMS to give our students immediate access to another great supplemental resource," said Naomi Kinley, director of the Career Center at St. Francis College in Brooklyn, NY. "We chose to work with TMS not only because it's easy to use and includes advanced tutoring collaboration tools, but most importantly because the tutors are often university-certified, student-rated, and 100% guaranteed by TMS."

TMS also announced partnerships with College of Southern Idaho, East Tennessee State University, San Diego Christian, Ursinus College, Mount Vernon Nazarene, University of South Carolina-Aiken and Paine College.

Additionally, TMS announced the debut of a new web app, GoBoard.com, a free video chat and whiteboard tool that enables real-time collaboration. The tool, which is accessible by anyone on the web, requires no software download or account creation and can be created or joined in seconds.

"Until now, most students have been using Skype and FaceTime to study or tutor online. Although it's possible to see and hear one another using those products, neither offers real-time collaboration on a math or physics problem, for example," said Fieldman. " makes online studying, tutoring and problem solving easy."

The virtual board includes illustration tools and allows users to add images from a variety of sources, including the web, Facebook, Dropbox, Google Drive, and Evernote. Educational tools available include Wolfram Alpha, LaTex (equation editor), and a graphing calculator. GoBoard also features a first-of-its-kind ability to text message a photo of one's handwritten work or textbook page directly into a collaborative board for the other person to then mark-up in real-time.

"The feedback from our tutors and students using GoBoard has been excellent," said Dr. Sezilee Reid, interim director of the Academic Support Center at Paine College. "Our tutors have been excited to use the new technology and I know that our students will benefit greatly from it."

was named in a contest held earlier this spring from more than 3,500 student entries from more than 100 schools worldwide. The winning name was submitted by both Cole Gabriel from the University of Florida and Sasha Samilov from the University of San Francisco. The two shared a $1,000 cash prize.

Tutor Matching Service (TMS) is the preferred online tutoring partner of colleges and universities across the country. TMS was created in 2009 to help university learning centers facilitate tutoring to improve student learning outcomes and graduation rates, at no cost to schools. TMS is used in a variety of ways at different institutions, but most commonly to address the need for college students to book tutors in small courses where colleges and universities don't have the resources to provide free on-campus tutoring, as well for parents to hire online or in-person tutors for their children in high school.
