The Autism Salon: An Expo With a Cause
(firmenpresse) - LAVAL, QUEBEC -- (Marketwired) -- 09/15/15 -- On regular days, children flock to the Laval Cosmodome to learn all about the thrills and enormous challenges of space exploration. It is only fitting that from October 2nd to the 4th, 2015, the Cosmodome should host the 2nd edition of the Salon of Autism ASD, an event dedicated to families and children with their own thrills and no less epic challenges. The first of its kind in Quebec, the Salon has become an annual event with the mission to raise autism awareness and provide the public with convenient access to information on ASD (autism spectrum disorder), related services, and resources from all over the province.
On September 28th, a media cocktail will be held at the Cosmodome to unveil the details of the 2015 edition. For this occasion, the organizers will welcome provincial MNAs, including Mrs Francine Charbonneau, MNA for Mille-Iles, and Minister of Families, Minister responsible for Seniors, Minister responsible for Anti-Bullying, and Minister responsible for the Laval region. The salon will host over 125 exhibitors and close to 40 guest speakers covering a wide range of subjects of interest to families and health care professionals. The popular Quebec TV and film actress, Frederique Dufort (Unite 9, Radio-Canada), will be the spokesperson of the Salon for the second consecutive year, Nicola Ciccone, winner of three Felix awards will be a guest artist, while celebrity comedian, author, and mother of an autistic boy, Guylaine Guay, will be a guest speaker. Visitors will also be treated to a series of performances by singers and musicians throughout the event.
The Salon is the labor of love of Johanne Leduc and Sylvie Le Guerrier, two mothers devoted to progress in the field of autism. Johanne, the president, is the author of the book "La Souffrance des Envahis" (The suffering of the afflicted) and a parent of two autistic children. Sylvie, the vice-president and proud mother of three neurotypical children, is deeply committed to facilitating access to assistance and resources to all families in similar situations.
