Absolute encoder series 40 and 60 from Johannes Huebner Giessen
Variety of combination options in a sturdy design
Absolute encoder series 40 and 60 from Johannes Huebner Giessen(firmenpresse) - Different output signals and constructions, numerous combination options and extremely sturdy – all features that distinguish the 40 and 60 series of absolute encoders from Johannes Huebner Giessen. Features that ensure they are particularly suitable for upgrade and new projects with high demands.
Several signals from a single device
The 40 series offers device versions with 11 and 14 mm solid shafts as well as hollow shafts up to 20 mm in diameter. The larger 60 series is available with hollow shafts up to 50 mm. As an interesting alternative to standard designs with just one terminal box, there are device versions available with several output signals out of two terminal boxes to fulfil exacting application demands on signal variety.
In addition to the different bus interfaces such as PROFIBUS, PROFINET, DeviceNet and EtherCAT further output signals are also available in the form of SSI, parallel, 4-20 mA, 0-10 V and incremental. Thomas Brandenburger head of the Project Management department, explains: "Until now, the customer had to install two devices in series in his system when two signals were required. The disadvantages are: longer installation scenarios, an additional coupling – and more space is often required than is actually available. By contrast, a compact device with two terminal boxes facilitates several output signals from one device."
This is needed, for example, for upgrade projects when two signals are required for two different controllers or automation levels. Since the encoder offers the same signal twice, the customer is able to dispense with an interface between controller 1 and controller 2. Equipped with two independent scannings, electronics and multiturn gear systems the encoders are designed to ensure maximum redundancy. The multiturn version is implemented utilizing proven mechanical gears, which ensures they are independent of any power supply as a consequence.
Combining an absolute value output with an additional incremental signal means it is possible to make use of the advantages both signal types offer. The absolute value provides feedback on the precise position without homing or pulse counting. Pulse edge evaluation of the incremental signal is performed in quasi real-time, and is available without a prior bus scan; rapid control processes, such as those necessary for highly dynamic drives, are possible as a consequence.
Combine to suit your needs
There are a wide variety of options available to combine the different interfaces. Fundamentally, it is possible to combine all of the available output signals with one another such as PROFIBUS, PROFINET, DeviceNet, EtherCAT, SSI, parallel, current, voltage and incremental.
