Canadian Coast Guard Leads Environmental Response In Northern Quebec Community of Salluit

The Canadian Coast Guard Ship (CCGS) Terry Fox is on scene in the northern Quebec community of Salluit responding to a fuel spill. The spill occurred during a routine generator fuel re-supply of the community by M/T Sarah Desgagnes late on October 7th.
The Canadian Coast Guard was notified of the incident and dispatched its closest vessel immediately. The CCGS Terry Fox arrived on scene by 8:30 a.m. local time October 8th to engage in the response operation. No fuel has been found on the shore. The CCGS Terry Fox and the M/T Sarah Desgagnes have the necessary pollution response equipment on site to respond to this incident. Transport Canada will fly over the affected area later today.
The Canadian Coast Guard, the M/T Sarah Desgagnes and partners are working together to ensure the protection of area residents and the marine environment.
