Royal DSM N.V., the global Life Sciences and Materials Sciences company
headquartered in the Netherlands, today announces the following management
changes:

Mr. Anton Robek (1959), most recently President and CEO of DSM Melamine, will be
appointed as Senior Vice President of DSM's Emerging Business Area (EBA) DSM
Bio-based Products & Services with effect from 1 January 2011. In this role he
will build on the success of this EBA, formerly named DSM White Biotechnology,
and drive its further commercialization as outlined in the strategy: 'DSM in
motion: driving focused growth'. Anton Robek will report to Mr. Rob van Leen,
DSM's Chief Innovation Officer.

Mr. Volkert Claassen (1953), currently Vice President DSM White Biotechnology,
has been appointed Vice President Strategy & Growth Options of the DSM
Innovation Center and Vice President Strategy & Partnerships of DSM Bio-based
Products & Services. Volkert Claassen has very successfully built the EBA DSM
White Biotechnology into a launching platform for products and services in the
areas of biofuels and biochemicals. His track record and extensive network in
the biotechnology industry give DSM an excellent position to take this enlarged
EBA to the next level.
