Factoring: fidis and Bürgel cooperate on fraud prevention
fidis integrates Bürgel’s information portal into factoring software / Quickly detecting attempts at fraud and reducing the risk of default

Kaarst, 28 October 2015. Factoring specialist fidis and credit bureau Bürgel have entered into a cooperation arrangement. Their common goal is to support factoring service providers with systematically detecting evidence of fraud. To this end, fidis is integrating the Deutsche SchutzPortal (DSPortal) developed by Bürgel into its FACT.pilot factoring software. fidis GmbH is one of the leading suppliers of IT solutions based on SAP for the factoring sector.
Bürgel Wirtschaftsinformationen GmbH & Co. KG developed DSPortal to prevent attempts at fraud in applications for loans and for opening accounts. The suspicious cases of all the participating financial institutions are gathered and systematised in a data pool. Based on this information, evidence of fraudulent activity in factoring can also be uncovered, in fact very quickly and on a large scale. Factoring companies can as a result greatly reduce the risk of default.

DSPortal identifies anomalies that point to fraud on the basis of plausibility checks. What is more, the system constantly learns as it does so. If it discovers an instance of fraud, it systematises the pattern of fraud and improves the rules for its detection. DSPortal was developed to allow banks, leasing companies and financial service providers to detect fraudsters in applications for loans and for opening accounts. “Thanks to our partnership with fidis GmbH we can now considerably expand our target group,” declares Frank Heisel of Bürgel. “At the same time, the data pool continues to grow and DSPortal is becoming even more effective in combating fraud.”
