Peter Drescher, Vermont Agency of Education, Honored as SETDA 2015 State Leader of the Year

(firmenpresse) - WASHINGTON, DC -- (Marketwired) -- 11/03/15 -- SETDA, the principal membership association of the U.S. state and territorial educational technology leaders announced today that Peter Drescher, Education Technology Coordinator, Vermont Agency of Education was honored with the SETDA State Leader of the Year (SLY) award during the association's held in Arlington, Virginia. The SLY award honors an active SETDA member who has exhibited exemplary national and state leadership in educational technology. The awardee supports districts (in his or her state) as they use technology effectively to improve student learning, collaborates with members and other peers nationally through SETDA initiatives and committees, and engages with the broader education and policymaking communities to advocate for the role of technology in advancing education.
"Peter has done an amazing job in Vermont focusing on key aspects of the education technology landscape and supporting leadership in these areas for teachers and staff," said Lan Neugent, Interim Executive Director, SETDA. "His continual work supporting digital learning program planning and integration serves is a model for the nation. He has engaged in broadband expansion discussions and has established himself as a valuable resource for a variety of local education technology topics. Peter effectively brings together key groups and individuals to collaboratively support a number of technology initiatives," continued Neugent. "Most recently, he coordinated a number of Vermont schools in a state-wide 3D modeling competition that combines history and 3D printing technology to raise student awareness on historical preservation."
Carla Wade, Digital Learning Specialist, Oregon Department of Education and current SETDA Board Chair cited Peter's strong leadership in various roles within SETDA.
