Wild Rose Brewery launches Alberta's first readily available sour beer!
(firmenpresse) - CALGARY, ALBERTA -- (Marketwired) -- 11/05/15 -- Wild Rose Brewery is proud to introduce a new kettle sour beer to the Wild Bunch.
We are excited to introduce our new wild brew to the Alberta market. This unique style of beer (known as a "sour") is the sign of a real craft brewer. Brewed using the "kettle souring" technique and flavoured with kaffir lime leaves, this beer has a bold taste that is tangy, tart and refreshing.
"Sour style beers have been produced for centuries in Belgium and have enjoyed somewhat of a renaissance amongst North American craft brewers. This style is a favourite of our brewers and we sought to produce a beer that is uniquely tart but quaffable. Sour beers are quite tricky to brew and require more time and resources than our typical beers but we feel the effort is well worth it," says Brewmaster Brian Smith.
Bill McKenzie, Wild Rose President and CEO, adds, "Our brewers have been developing a sour at our Currie Barracks brewery over the past four or five months, they were patient and waited until they nailed it and they absolutely did. This is a fantastic beer and it compliments our line up of high quality Alberta brews with a very fun and wild character."
McKenzie adds, "The name Cowbell was tossed around during one of our late night strategic thinking (and sampling) sessions, its one of those rare ideas that seemed like a great idea at the time and when we revisited it the following day we still thought it was a great name."
Cowbell draught will be available in December at Alberta's finest and wildest restaurants and bars. Fans of the beer can expect to see six packs available throughout the province in early January.
