The new Box PC wins its users over with its clever industrial design and compact dimensions. Its interface layout can be configured freely, and its multi-core processors strike the perfect balance between computing power and low power consumption.
Syslogic, the embedded expert, is well-known in the industry market for its sturdy, long-lasting devices that offer long-term availability. And even though Syslogic isn't re-inventing the wheel with its Compact M series, it is definitely creating quite a stir. The Box PC comes with an unparalleled number of features. It combines compact dimensions with high-powered multi-core CPU boards and interface variability like no other device before it.
Embedded Box PC for automation specialists
With its Compact M series, Syslogic is setting its sights on the automation market. Thanks to the quadcore processor from the Intel Atom E3845 series, the Box PC masters demanding control tasks and their visualization. And its interface allocation has been tailor-made to meet the requirements of automation specialists. For the first time, a Syslogic device features switchable COM interfaces. These interfaces can be configured as an RS232 or as an RS422/485 with galvanic isolation. The basic configuration also includes LAN, CAN, USB and EtherCAT interfaces. Optionally, the device can additionally be fitted with WLAN, GSM, UMTS and LTE.
Embedded Box PC as a compact EtherCAT controller
Syslogic does not only supply industrial hardware, but also supports its customers with the integration of industrial computers with automation systems. Upon request, the Syslogic software engineers also provide EtherCAT Master Stacks for Linux operating systems. This allows customers to use the Embedded Box PC directly as an EtherCAT controller. Automation solutions can be realized easily and cost-efficiently because the graphical interface, the EtherCAT master connection and the control system logic run on the same hardware.
Raphael Binder, Product Manager at Syslogic, is convinced that Syslogic will be able to expand its position on the automation market with the new computer series. He says: "The Compact M series offers outstanding flexibility and a compact design, which makes it suitable for a wide variety of applications in the field of industry automation"
A clever monitoring system guarantees fail-proof operations
In addition to the sturdy design of the Compact M Embedded PCs, a monitoring system guarantees their high functional reliability. One component of this monitoring system is the intelligent power management function, which has already proven its worth in other Syslogic computer series. It is an additional micro-controller, which monitors the start and stop of the Embedded Box PC. If an entire system such as a machine or a vehicle is switched off, for instance, the intelligent power management function allows for a defined shutdown of the industrial computer, which maximizes data security. The monitoring system further contains a watchdog unit that automatically restarts the Embedded Box PC in the case of a fault, and a temperature monitor that surveys the temperature within the Embedded Box PC.
