Experts Find The Use Of Fish Oil Supplements More Favorable Than Fish Consumption

(firmenpresse) - Orlando, FL– December 24, 2015 – Eating fruits, vegetables and fish are generally considered to be healthy. These food options are loaded with vitamins and minerals that promote health. While consuming healthy food such as fish is recommended, there is another option that researchers believe is more beneficial.

Experts find the use of fish oil supplements to be more favorable than fish consumption. The ocean has already been contaminated with a wide range of environmental pollutants, which include mercury. Eating fish, or too much of it, carries certain risks that are detrimental to health.

“Fish oil contains very therapeutic fats called omega-3 fatty acids. Omega-3s can be obtained from fish such as halibut, tuna, herring, and sardines,” said VitaBreeze Supplements spokesperson, Michelle O’Sullivan.

While consumption of fish is believed to be very helpful for cardiovascular health, experts find the use of reputable fish oil supplements to be more advantageous. The most reputable herbal companies often manufacture their fish oil supplements with the use of a process that reduces or eliminates the high amounts of toxins from the fish oil. In addition to eliminating the environmental toxins, fish oil supplements also contain high concentrations of omega-3 fatty acids.

The Harvard School of Public Health, Louisiana University's Marine Consortium, and Norway’s National Institute of Nutrition and Seafood Research noted the dangers of consuming high amounts of mercury. Consumption of fish and shellfish is believed to be one of the major reasons why Americans are exposed to methyl-mercury.

According to health experts, mercury can be very detrimental to health. It is associated with brain development problems among the unborn or young children, immune system damage, heart damage, and central nervous system damage. In the study conducted by the University of Pittsburg, it was found that commercially available fish have high mercury levels and contain 1.7 times more arsenic and 1.9 times more selenium than what's considered safe. This has led many people who want to take advantage of the healing effects of omega-3 fats to use fish oil supplements.

ConsumerLab.com states that in their review, not even one out of 41 popular fish oil supplements was found to have PCBs or mercury. Harvard Medical School and Massachusetts General Hospital also revealed that 5 of the most popular fish oil supplement brands did not contain threatening levels of mercury. They suspected that reputable companies that produce fish oil either obtain oil from mercury-free fish sources or use a process to remove the toxins.

Some of the most popular fish oil supplements nowadays also come in capsules that have enteric coating. This coating eliminates the fishy aftertaste and promotes better omega-3 fats absorption inside the body (http://amazon.com/Omega-Fish-Oil-Supplement-Softgels/dp/B00O8NS20K/).
