Chartwells-Thompson Supports CPS Back to School Program
(firmenpresse) - CHICAGO, IL -- (Marketwire) -- 08/09/11 -- On August 5th, Chartwells-Thompson Hospitality, the major food provider for Chicago Public Schools (CPS), donated 5,000 picnic lunches at a back-to-school rally organized by the CPS Safe Haven program and held at Ogden Park. The Safe Haven, Safe Summer program is a partnership that was forged in 2011 between CPS and the faith-based community which builds on strategies aimed at providing children with a safe and active environment during the summer. The rally is part of the district's comprehensive back-to-school campaign to promote strong attendance during the 2011-2012 school year.
Chartwells-Thompson has donated thousands of free lunches in the past for students participating in the Safe Haven programs. Through the program, students from kindergarten through 12th grade have a place to go when Chicago Public Schools is not in session. "We are very pleased support CPS' back-to-school efforts and this rally in particular," said Bob Bloomer, regional vice president for Chartwells-Thompson. "This is a great way to ensure that students and their families are ready to start the new school year."
