A three-page article on the successful cooperation between the top-class brand Cutting Solutions by CERATIZIT and Weingärtner Maschinenbau entitled 'For gigantic turbine shafts' was featured in the December edition of the technical journal 'maschine+werkzeug'.

Weingärtner Maschinenbau selected the top-class brand Cutting Solutions by CERATIZIT to supply the most important tools for the new mpmc-2000S, a machining center used for the complete machining of work pieces weighing up to 60 tonnes.
Its predecessor, the mpmc 1200, has been scaled up to accommodate larger turning diameters and heavier work pieces. This resulted in Weingärtner receiving an order from an American energy firm to deliver the machine to process the turbine shaft destined for use in a gas turbine power plant.
Maximum machining quality with tools from Cutting Solutions by CERATIZIT
Tools from Cutting Solutions by CERATIZIT (link to: http://www.ceratizit.com/products/metal-cutting/cutting-solutions-by-ceratizit/) made a decisive contribution to the success of this project, which was also challenging in terms of the time-frame. The carbide expert delivered the overall machining concept, including all the important tools. Cutting Solutions by CERATIZIT convinced with regards to productivity, process security and dimensional accuracy and achieved outstanding results when using the new Silverstar coating in the milling tests.
Compared to the time previously required for this process, the machining time for the giant turbine shaft, which is used in gas or vapour turbine power plants, has been reduced by two thirds.
