Turmeric May Be Potentially Helpful Against Drug-Induced Side Effects

(firmenpresse) - Orlando, FL – January, 2016 – Today, millions of people depend on pharmaceutical drugs to combat a myriad of medical conditions. Unfortunately, many of today’s medications, including the most popular ones, cause side effects. The good news is that there is a natural remedy called turmeric that is believed to help reduce or prevent these undesirable consequences.

Turmeric may be potentially helpful against drug-induced side effects. Turmeric is an ancient, medicinal spice that has been used for thousands of years, especially in Ayurvedic and traditional Chinese medicine.
“Today, turmeric can be efficiently and conveniently consumed through supplementation,” said Divine Bounty spokesperson, Melissa Scott.
Many pharmaceutical companies from around the world spend a huge amount of money over clinical trials just to determine the potential side effects their medications can cause. Even the FDA invests serious amount of funds to make sure that all the drugs made available in the market are safe to use.

Despite the measures that the FDA and pharmaceutical companies make, drug toxicity is still highly prevalent. All pharmaceutical drugs are believed to be harmful in certain types of people. The toxicity may or may not take place, but there are contributing factors such as gender, age, genetic predisposition, inappropriate usage of the drug, or drug allergy.

According to the Father of toxicology, Parascelsus, all compounds are safe at low disease and at the same time toxic at high doses. Drug toxicity is believed to affect various organs in the body such as the kidneys, bone marrow, heart, lungs, and liver.

Turmeric is thought to decrease the burden carried along by using pharmaceutical drugs on a long-term basis. It can also reduce the risk of side effects due to drug interactions.

Turmeric contains a polyphenol called curcumin, which is thought to be responsible for the spice’s therapeutic effects. Curcumin contains anti-microbial, antioxidant, anti-cancer, anti-inflammatory, and other pharmacological properties.

According to experts, drug-induced oxidative stress is responsible for spreading toxicity to the organs in the body. Many of the pharmaceutical drugs used nowadays such as analgesics and antipsychotics contribute to oxidative stress.

The Reactive Oxygen Species (ROS) are reactive molecules containing oxygen. At high levels, ROS is believed to damage key cellular components as well as cause cell death.

The antioxidants work by regulating the amount of ROS, and thus defend the body. Oxidative stress takes place when there is imbalance between antioxidant agents and ROS. Turmeric employs its anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties to control drug-induced organ toxicity (amazon.com/Turmeric-Curcumin-BioPerine-Pepper-Extract/dp/B00VSVKJ8I).
