Nordic American Tankers Limited ("NAT" or "the Company") announced today that
one of its vessels performed a rescue operation in the Arabian Gulf, in the
evening of January 25, 2016. A distressed ship was sinking and the NAT vessel
made its way to the location. Within 30 minutes the crew, 12 seafarers, were
successfully rescued. Our vessel promptly resumed its voyage and the rescued
seafarers will be sent ashore when it is practical to do so.
The Company noted that the successful rescue of the seafarers is in harmony with
long standing maritime traditions and is a credit to all involved, with
particular emphasis on the efforts of our crew. This is the second time that
one of our ships recently has been involved in a rescue operation. In September
2014 one of our vessels rescued 151 refugees in the Mediterranean.
