With the announcement of"articy:draft", German software developer Nevigo GmbH reveals the first professional tool for story and game design tailored to the specific demands of interactive storytelling.

Many developers still use Word or Excel," says Nevigo CEO Kai Rosenkranz, "and this combo just doesn't give them what they need for writing branching stories. We're happy to fill this gap with articy:draft. Game writers can now craft non-linear plots easily. The era of post-its on walls is finally over."
A game's plot is split into fragments that can be interconnected to form a story network. Each branch represents a player decision or junction in the game. In addition to the synopsis, users can attach images, videos and other assets to story fragments via drag and drop. Regardless of how extensive and complex the story network becomes, articy:draft helps users view their design from a bird's eye view and thus keep track of dramaturgy and player experience.
"There's more to game and story design than just the plot. You also have to create the universe. And most of all, good storytelling boils down to credible characters," adds Rosenkranz. "That's why articy:draft comes with integrated editors for characters, objects and locations."
"articy:draft is a client-server solution supporting single-user and multi-user environments," explains development director Stefan Nyul. "You can log in from anywhere in the world and work together with other writers, designers and artists. articy:draft integrates directly into Perforce or Subversion and exports your project data to XML."

The product will be presented for the first time at GDC Europe and gamescom 2011 in Cologne from August 15th through 19th.
