BDI - BioEnergy International AG continues to expand new BioGas plant
operations successfully in 1st half of 2011

11.08.2011 / 08:00

---------------------------------------------------------------------

- New commission for Multi-Feedstock BioGas plant in Germany
- BioGas plants already account for 24% of BDI's total orders on hand
- EBIT margin of 15.1 per cent in the 1st half of the year
- Successful transfer of business responsibility to new members of the
Management Board

(Grambach, 11.08.2011) BDI - BioEnergy International AG obtained another
commission worth several million euros to build a BioGas plant in the first
half of 2011 and therefore continued to expand the new BioGas plant
operations successfully. All in all, BDI's business operations developed as
planned in the first six months of the current fiscal year, with sales of
EUR 17.4 million and an EBIT margin of 15.1 per cent. BDI's capacities are
effectively utilised with orders on hand of EUR 22.2 million at the end of
the first half of the year. BioGas plants already account for 24 per cent
of the total orders on hand. Specific negotiations are currently being held
about further commissions for BioDiesel and BioGas projects.

'We made a very great deal of progress in achieving our objective of
establishing the new BioGas operations with Multi-Feedstock Technology on
the market alongside our BioDiesel plant operations in the first half of
2011. We benefitted here primarily from the close relationships to
customers that we have maintained for many years. And the market has
tremendous potential: new regulations about waste recycling all over the
world are making Multi-Feedstock BioGas plants an extremely attractive
technological solution', explains Dagmar Heiden-Gasteiner, CFO of BDI -

BioEnergy International AG. 'We aim to increase our technological lead and
competitive edge steadily in the Waste to Energy field - partly by making
targeted acquisitions of companies and technologies that expand our product
and service portfolio in areas closely associated with the core business',
adds Edgar Ahn, CSO and responsible for BDI's sales operations.

The sales of EUR 17.4 million that were generated in the 1st half of 2011
were about 13% lower than in the same period the previous year (EUR 19.9
million). The operating result (EBIT) improved from EUR 1.9 million in the
previous year to EUR 2.6 million in the 1st half of 2011 thanks to cost
savings and optimisation measures. The EBIT margin therefore increased from
9.3% to 15.1%. Earnings before taxes (EBT) amounted to EUR 2.9 million and
were thus 37.3% better than the previous year's figure of EUR 2.1 million.
Period earnings (after deduction of non-controlling interests) were also up
on the previous year's figure of EUR 1.8 million at EUR 2.3 million. This
led to earnings per share of EUR 0.60 compared with EUR 0.47 in the
previous year.

BDI's equity remained at a very high level on the balance sheet date (EUR
54.5 million, compared with EUR 61.0 million in the previous year), in
spite of the capital repayment of EUR 10.1 million. The equity ratio was
64.6% on 30.06.2011.

The changes in the Management Board of BDI have been completed
successfully: the new Management Board members Edgar Ahn and Markus
Dielacherhave already assumed full responsibility for their assignments.
