Endoscopic training in virtual reality

(PresseBox) - Training young physicians is essential to surgical success and patient safety. Clearly, training should be realistic and complex, so that young physicians can be fully prepared to work at the real operating table. Virtual training with simulation systems is a modern tool to familiarize physicians with the specific and complex requirements of endoscopy, such as eye-hand coordination and use of the endoscopic camera and endoscopic instruments.
For this purpose, KARL STORZ offers the simulation system ULIS as a skill trainer for laparoscopy. It features an intuitive user interface, a great variety of training scenarios, force feedback at the trocar modules, analyzable training sessions, and realistic visualization of the abdominal cavity.
