BMO Pledges $100,000 Towards ErinoakKids' Redevelopment Project
(firmenpresse) - MISSISSAUGA, ONTARIO -- (Marketwired) -- 02/16/16 -- BMO, one of Canada's largest banks, today announced it will donate $100,000 to ErinoakKids to fund therapy equipment and programming in three new sites set to open next spring. The funds will ensure children and youth with disabilities have access to much-needed services and supports in their local communities.
"A majority of the children and youth we see at ErinoakKids receive several services at our sites in Oakville, Brampton and Mississauga," said ErinoakKids President and CEO Bridget Fewtrell. "With the construction of our new facilities, children and youth with disabilities will have access to the care they need when they need it most, in a single location close to their home and their families."
ErinoakKids broke ground on three new sites in May 2015 after outgrowing a patchwork of leased and outdated buildings across Halton and Peel regions. While the Ontario government is funding the design and construction of the project at $163 million, ErinoakKids is raising another $20 million- $15 million for therapy/treatment program equipment, and $5 million to support unfunded services through its $20 million In My Dreams fundraising campaign.

BMO's donation will ensure children with special needs have access to critical services, including ErinoakKids' recreation therapy, independent living and respite programming. Through these offerings, children and youth develop essential leisure or life skills, while parents of children with complex care needs take a break from caregiving routines with the help of qualified medical staff in the respite program.
Once complete in spring 2017, the redevelopment project will more than double ErinoakKids' existing treatment therapy space from 128,000 to 280,000 square feet. Key features of the sites include:
