Kesko's sales in September 2010

KESKO CORPORATION STOCK EXCHANGE RELEASE 14.10.2010 AT 09.00 1(2)
The Kesko Group's sales, excluding VAT, totalled ?758.0 million in September
2010, an increase of 5.1%.
In the food trade, sales in September were ?325.9 million, an increase of 1.4%.
The sales to K-food store chains were up by 2.2%.
In the home and speciality goods trade, sales in September were ?130.5 million,
an increase of 2.2%. The best sales performances were in Anttila department
stores and Kodin Ykkönen department stores for home goods and interior
decoration. Especially K-citymarket and Anttila increased their clothing sales.
In the building and home improvement trade, sales in September were ?244.4
million, an increase of 14.4%. Sales in Finland were up by 14.0%. Sales abroad
increased by 14.7% in terms of euros and by 6.9% in terms of local currencies.
In the Baltic countries, sales were up by 2.1%. In Russia, sales increased by
33.9% in terms of euros and by 20.3% in terms of the local currency.
In the car and machinery trade, sales in September were ?73.7 million, a
decrease of 2.6%. VV-Auto's sales in September were ?54.3 million, up 11.4%. In
Finland, new registrations of passenger cars increased by 28.6% in September.
The market share of passenger cars represented by VV-Auto was 17.0% (18.7%).
Konekesko's sales in September were ?19.5 million, down 27.8%. The sales
performance was lowered by Konekesko's discontinuation of its agricultural
supplies trade in the Baltic countries.

Change, % indicates the change over the corresponding period of the previous
year.
In September 2010, the number of selling days in Kesko's wholesale in Finland
was 22, which is the same as in September 2009. The total number of wholesale
selling days in January-September was one more than in the previous year. The
number of retail selling days in September was 30, which is four more than in
the previous year. The total number of retail selling days in January-September
was 20 more than in the previous year.
The sales from operations in Finland presented in this release include the
export sales of the companies in Finland (previously exports were included in
the sales of other countries). The comparative figures have been restated to
reflect the change in presentation.
Kesko publishes advance information about the K-Group's retail sales quarterly,
in connection with the interim reports.
