Imtech: acquisition of Medical Engineering strengthens position on Spanish care & cure market
(Thomson Reuters ONE) -
Gouda - Imtech N.V. (technical services provider in Europe) announces the
acquisition of the Spanish medical equipment specialist Medical Engineering S.L.
Medical Engineering has over 40 employees and realises an annual revenue in
excess of 3 million euro. The acquisition contributes directly to the earnings
per share, and will enable Imtech to considerably strengthen its position on the
Spanish care & cure market.
René van der Bruggen, CEO Imtech: 'Imtech is one of the larger technical players
on the European care & cure market, which accounts for around 4 per cent of its
total revenue of approximately 4.5 billion euro. Imtech is an outstanding
implementation partner for complex technical infrastructure, with an emphasis on
energy, ICT (Information and Communication Technology), electrical engineering
and innovative air and climate solutions. By pooling this with knowledge of
medical apparatus and equipment, it will be possible to offer total solutions.
This will enable Imtech to better serve hospitals and care institutions.'
Profile of Medical Engineering
Based in Valencia, Medical Engineering S.L. is one of the larger Spanish
technical implementation and maintenance specialists in the growing medical
apparatus and equipment market. The company specialises in consultancy,
installation & implementation, engineering, preventive and corrective
maintenance, emergency repairs, and the management of medical apparatus and
equipment. Examples include electrocardiographic apparatus, ultrasound
equipment, ECG monitoring, mammographic equipment, electrical scalping
equipment, low-tech and high-tech x-ray equipment, incubators, automatic blood
analysers, spiro meters, electrical endoscopic apparatus, and so on. There are
40 talented technology specialists in the firm, who have been specially trained
(and continue to be trained) for providing technical support in placing,
maintaining and repairing this type of equipment. More than 15,000 maintenance
interventions and repairs are carried out every year. In that context,
collaborative partnership agreements have been concluded with world market
leaders such as Siemens, Philips and General Electric. Medical Engineering also
advises hospitals and care institutions during the construction of new premises,
or the renovation or upgrading of existing ones, and offers its clients
independent technical advice. In total, Medical Engineering has approximately
two hundred clients, including numerous large Spanish hospitals.
Synergy: total solutions and cross-selling
Imtech is becoming active across an ever-broader front on the Spanish care &
cure market, on which it acts as an implementation partner for complex technical
infrastructure, with an emphasis on the electrical engineering aspect. As well
as countless technical solutions, Imtech in Spain has at its disposal specific
knowledge of technology in and around operating theatres, technically complex
treatment rooms and intensive care facilities. In this market sector Imtech
achieved substantial growth during the past year. The combination of technical
infrastructure and the implementation and maintenance of medical apparatus and
equipment will make it possible to provide total solutions to hospitals and care
institutions, and to realise cross selling.
