(Thomson Reuters ONE) -

SEB is one of the five companies in the Nordic countries which performes best
against climate change, according to CDP, the Carbon Disclosure Project's annual
reporting.

SEB achieves the A rating in CDP's new index CPLI measuring companies' actions
reducing carbon dioxid emissions and climate change. SEB is also ranked number
12 in the index CDLI, covering 200 companies, regarding companies' measuring and
reporting of carbon dioxid emissions. SEB is the only service company in the Top
20.

"We have high ambitions for our sustainability efforts. It is therefore
gratifying that the CDP has recognised that our work is on track. However, there
is much left to do. The process of integrating sustainability into our business
is a job that really never ends," says Bo Magnusson, SEB's Executive Vice
President and Chairman of the bank's Sustainability Committee.

To develop strategies to address climate change is one of the bank's business
priorities and includes both SEB's direct and indirect impact on the
environment. Since 2009, SEB has a target to reduce carbon dioxide emissions
from its own operations by 45 per cent, compared to 2008, by 2015. SEB is also a
climate compensated company under the Kyoto Protocol.

"Last year we have worked to identify sustainability risks and opportunities in
our business. We put great focus on developing sector policies and group-wide
position statements that will guide our business decisions in various sectors in
the future," says Cecilia Widebäck West, Head of SEB Corporate Sustainability.

As part of SEB's efforts to raise awareness of sustainability and to improve
knolwedge of SEB's and others' activities, SEB also developed a web-based forum
(www.sebgroup.com/Sustainable Perspectives). The Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP)
is the world's largest survey of large companies' ambitions on climate change.

For the past 10 years, CDP has reported on companies' greenhouse gas emissions
and strategies to prevent climate change. Nearly 3,000 companies in 60 countries
responded to this year's survey. At a meeting in Stockholm on Wednesday the
Nordic Report, which includes the 200 largest listed companies in the Nordic
countries, was presented.
