Dr. James A. Matas Explains the Differences Between Liposuction and Abdominoplasty for Individuals Interested in Restoring a Slimmer, More Toned Midsection

(firmenpresse) - ORLANDO, FL -- (Marketwired) -- 04/05/16 -- According to Dr. James A. Matas, the abdominal region can be one of the most troublesome areas of the body when trying to achieve a toned, athletic look. The says both men and women alike often struggle with stubborn pockets of fat or excess skin that is resistant to even the most rigorous diet and exercise regimes. Fortunately, for patients who are at or near their ideal weight, Dr. Matas offers a couple different surgical procedures that can help his patients achieve their body sculpting goals.

Since liposuction and tummy tuck surgery are both region, Dr. Matas takes time during the consultation process to educate his patients about the advantages of each procedure. "Ideal candidates for are typically already at or near their ideal weight and seeking to target trouble spots by removing a layer of excess fat from the specified region," says Dr. Matas. He goes on to note that this procedure uses relatively small incisions to treat a variety of body areas, including the hips, love handles, outer thighs, abdomen, and even inner thighs.

While surgery often has a similar aim of achieving a slimmer abdomen, Dr. Matas says the approach has some key differences. "Also known as abdominoplasty, tummy tuck surgery uses an incision that runs along the lower abdomen to remove an accumulation of redundant skin and tighten the underlying abdominal muscles for a flatter stomach and a more toned appearance," says Dr. Matas. In addition, he notes that liposuction can often be combined with abdominoplasty to excise stubborn fat buildups in the treatment area. Since skin and muscles of the abdomen stretch, expand, and can become damaged during pregnancy, the Florida plastic surgeon explains that a tummy tuck is often the solution women who want a are seeking.

Ultimately, Dr. Matas highlights that the best way for individuals to determine which body contouring technique would be most beneficial is to seek the expertise of a board certified plastic surgeon who has extensive experience in both procedures. By doing so, he says patients can help to ensure the most appropriate selection is made based on their unique needs and aesthetic goals.
