Stack Announces Pre-Order Availability of Latest Bulb Format, Stack Classic
New A19 Format Features Radio Frequency Sensing Technology to Detect Motion Through Lamp Shades

(firmenpresse) - SAN DIEGO, CA -- (Marketwired) -- 04/26/16 -- , the technology leader behind the world's first responsive lighting solutions for homes and buildings, today announced at the that the Stack Classic is now available for pre-order. The Classic fits a standard A19 bulb profile, the most common format in residential households, and is the second format in Stack's expanding lighting portfolio.
The Stack Classic includes new radio frequency (RF) motion sensing technology, which is a first in a residential bulb of this type. The RF technology allows the bulbs to detect motion from within scones and other traditional lighting fixtures as well as through lampshades. This integrated sensing technology is a result of Stack's innovative approach to embedding sensor technology directly into light bulbs, which enables powerful lighting experiences without forcing the user to touch a switch or smartphone app.
The Classic will also include Stack's other leading sensor technology, which can automatically detect and adjust to meaningful occupancy changes, and available ambient light. The Classic will begin shipping to customers in late Summer 2016 and will be available at a pre-order price of $28 per bulb and $89 per starter kit (each starter kit includes two bulbs and a hub), making it by far the most cost-effective implementation of RF motion technology in a lighting product designed for consumer adoption.
"Since day one, our mission has been to channel our passion for truly intelligent spaces into the creation of unique technologies that respond to and learn from surrounding environmental factors," said Neil Joseph, Founder & CEO of Stack. "The work the team has done to create and integrate this new RF technology into the Classic A19 shows our ongoing commitment to provide customers with the most innovative lighting solutions available. This is also true for our partners who can now embed Stack technology directly into their various lighting formats so they can also deliver the latest lighting innovations to their customers."
To drive mass market adoption of responsive lighting technologies, the company recently its partner program, , which provides organizations with access to Stack's innovative technology -- including the new active RF sensing technology -- which can be easily embedded inside a broad range of common lighting formats. Stack announced a number of partners, including , and , that are already developing products and applications using Stack's APIs and SDKs, which is a major step forward in the distribution of lighting-oriented IoT operating systems.
In addition to announcing pre-orders for the A19, Stack has also updated the pricing for their first publicly available format, the Stack Downlight. Individual Downlights now retail for $45 per bulb, and $99 for a starter kit. Both the Classic and Downlight run on popular open IoT standards like Zigbee and expand the capabilities of other smart home systems. The Stack platform is already integrated to Nest's learning thermostat and IFTTT, and will soon be releasing support for Amazon Echo, Apple Homekit and Honeywell connected home products.
Stack will showcase both products, as well as the reference designs for partners interested in integration, at the in San Diego at booth #7317.
