Winchester Systems COTS Rugged FlashDisk Hybrid Array Delivers High Performance at Low Cost

(firmenpresse) - BILLERICA, MA -- (Marketwired) -- 05/09/16 -- Winchester Systems Inc., a leading data storage solutions provider for C4ISR applications, today announced its new that delivers "all flash performance" in a hybrid disk array. This new 14th generation FlashDisk features dual RAID controllers that represent a new level of performance combined with the use of SSDs to increase speed. This combination enables the performance that today's C4ISR applications demand at COTS prices.
FlashDisk RH controllers deploy up to 256 GB on-board cache, an eight-fold increase in cache capacity. As a hybrid array, a small number of SSDs can be assigned to serve as read cache and dedicated SSD volumes for write intensive applications, resulting in a unit that delivers all flash performance at close to standard disk array prices.
The FlashDisk HX delivers 12 GB/sec. data throughput for radar, data acquisition, photos, video recording and playback, a 250% increase in speed for C4ISR applications. The FlashDisk RH also delivers up to 500,000 IOPS for random access applications -- 100 times faster than hard disk arrays. Recording multiple sequential data streams often creates high rates of random access when the data streams interleave, so random performance is very useful for demanding C4ISR applications.
The rugged 2U base unit holds up to (24) 2.5" HDDs, SSDs and SEDs with capacities ranging from 200 GB to 4 TB each to provide 4.8 TB to 96 TB. It offers single or dual controllers and up to 20 ports including Fibre Channel 8 Gb, Fibre Channel 16 Gb, 1 GbE and 10 GbE.

Prices for rugged FlashDisk RH now start at under $24,000. Products are available now and delivery is 2-3 weeks.
