American Diabetes Association Receives Accreditation From Better Business Bureau Wise Giving Alliance
(firmenpresse) - ALEXANDRIA, VA -- (Marketwire) -- 08/16/11 -- The has been recognized once again as a Better Business Bureau (BBB) accredited charity for its accountability practices. This accreditation was presented by the BBB Wise Giving Alliance (Alliance).
The Association was evaluated based on comprehensive Standards for Charity Accountability. Organizations who meet these 20 rigorous standards are able to participate in the Alliance's National Charity Seal Program. This seal helps the public make informed decisions about donating to charities. The seal also advances high standards of conduct among organizations that solicit contributions from the public.
"The National Charity Seal shows donors that their financial contributions are having a direct impact in the fight to Stop Diabetes® and its deadly consequences," said Larry Hausner, CEO, American Diabetes Association. "We are proud to be recognized as a trusted charity that adheres to the Better Business Bureau's strict code of accountability."
In order to be certified, the Association had to show that they met strict standards in how they govern their organization; in the ways they spend their money; in the truthfulness of their representations; and in their willingness to disclose basic information to the public. These standards were developed to assist donors in making sound giving decisions and to foster public confidence in charitable organizations. About 58% of the national charities that provide requested information to the Alliance are found to meet all 20 of the BBB charity standards.
