Developers and Suppliers Prepare to Meet in Halifax This September 21-22

(firmenpresse) - HALIFAX, NOVA SCOTIA -- (Marketwire) -- 08/16/11 -- Nova Scotia's new renewable energy initiatives are drawing worldwide attention as renewable energy developers and suppliers seek out new opportunities under the province's Community Feed-in Tariff (COMFIT) and Request for Proposal (RFP) programs.

Developers and suppliers from across the globe will be gathering this September 21-22 in Halifax at the Nova Scotia Feed-in Tariff Forum to discuss these programs. "We see the bidding process and COMFIT as great opportunities here in Nova Scotia," commented Rodrigo Moura, Lead Business Developer, Anaia Global Renewable Energies.

The Nova Scotia Feed-in Tariff Forum agenda has over 50 speakers including developers, suppliers and community power experts from Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Maine, Germany, Spain, Ontario, Vermont and Denmark. "I am looking forward to meeting and discussing with local and international participants at the forum and learning more about Nova Scotia's plans to develop community power," said Dr. Ingo Koenig, Managing Partner, Koenig & Consultants, an expert in German community wind power who is speaking at the event.

The timing of the forum comes two days after the Nova Scotia Department of Energy begins accepting COMFIT applications for a variety of technologies including big wind, small wind, biomass, hydro and tidal. The conference will then offer the very latest updates on the COMFIT and the RFP from the lead administrators of these programs.

The RFP creates new opportunities for 300 GWh of medium to large wind projects in Nova Scotia and will be overseen by John Dalton, President, Power Advisory LLC, who has been appointed as the province's Renewable Electricity Administrator (REA). Mr. Dalton will be speaking at the forum, offering the first insights into the new RFP.

The RFP is very exciting for wind developers and suppliers alike. "Nova Scotia has a good variety of Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs), and the projects resulting from the RFP will definitely be a good opportunity for these OEMs to continue their work in the province or establish themselves within the industry," said Laurent Nahmias-Leonard, Commercial Engineer, Enercon.

Nova Scotia Power, the main utility in the province, will also outline its plans for supporting the development of renewable energy in the region and the Minister of Energy & Natural Resources, Hon. Charlie Parker, is providing the opening keynote.
